MG announces first European mainland manufacturing facility
MG has announced plans to restart European vehicle production with a new manufacturing facility in Galicia, Spain, backed by an investment of around €200 million.
Due to begin production in 2028, the plant will have the capacity to build up to 120,000 vehicles annually and create more than 2,000 jobs across Europe. The facility forms a key part of MG's 'In Europe, For Europe' strategy, strengthening local manufacturing, research and development, supply chains and logistics.
The investment supports MG's continued expansion across Europe and its commitment to delivering innovative electric and hybrid vehicles. Alongside local manufacturing, MG will work with European technology partners and suppliers to advance battery technology, intelligent mobility and clean energy solutions.
The announcement follows a period of significant growth for the brand, including the delivery of its one-millionth vehicle in Europe and the continued expansion of its model range with vehicles such as the MGS5 EV, MGS6 EV, MG HS Hybrid+, MG4 EV Urban and the MGS9 Plug-in Hybrid.
William Wang, Managing Director of MG UK & Europe, said: "Through our 'In Europe, For Europe' strategy, we are investing in local manufacturing and innovation to help shape the future of sustainable mobility while making advanced technology more accessible to customers across Europe."
